Scout — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
Scout is a house-hunting app and browser extension that lets you save
property listings from Zoopla, Rightmove and OnTheMarket into a shared
group workspace. This policy covers both the Scout web app and the Scout
Chrome extension.
What we collect
- Account information. Your name and email address, held
by our authentication provider (Clerk), are used to sign you in and to
show who saved or commented on a property.
- Property data you choose to save. When you click
"Add to Scout" on a listing, the extension reads the listing details on
that page (address, price, photos, floor plans, size, and similar) and
stores them in your group's workspace.
- Authentication cookies. The extension reads your own
Scout session cookie so it can act as you — it never collects your
browsing history and only runs on property listing pages.
What we don't do
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
- We do not track your browsing outside the supported property sites.
Where your data lives
Data is stored in Scout's own database, hosted on Railway, and is visible
only to members of the groups you belong to. Authentication is handled by
Clerk.
Your choices
You can delete properties, leave groups, or delete your account at any
time from the app. Removing the extension stops all collection
immediately.
